22 MayLU student part of the SIFT geology winning team!
Congratulations to Philippe Trudel for winning the 2015 Student Industry Field Trip (SIFT) competition in Calgary, AB! He and his team took part in an extended oil and gas exploration project over several days. When asked about how his team managed to win the competition, Philippe explained: "An important part for our team to be successful during the exploration game was to have a sound geological interpretation of the area based on wireline log data, cross sections and maps. Understanding the depositional environments of the oil and gas plays allowed us to accurately drill in order to maximize profits."
