The Harquail School of Earth Sciences boasts a reference mineral collection with > 7000 specimens representing > 2500 mineral species.
The bulk (>5000) come from the Irwin Kennedy collection, donated in 2012. The collection has been archived and a searchable database created (using Microsoft Access) through the Herculean efforts of Derek Leung, with further dedicated work by Mattea McRae.
On-line access to the reference collection is made available through download below. Simply activate it, then search any parameter (mineral species, locality) using the Search field at the bottom. The collection is made available to all researchers from all levels in the HES (undergrad, grad, faculty). If something of interest is located, please contact Professor Andy McDonald to arrange for the availability of the reference material.
