New electron microprobe operator

Starting on Apr 3, 2017, Rémy Poulin (M.Sc.) has been hired to be the new electron microprobe operator at the Harquail School of Earth Sciences. The one-year contract was made possible by Dr. Andrew McDonald receiving an NOHFC grant for an internship.

Rémy Poulin, who is a Laurentian University alumnus and who graduated with an M.Sc. in Geology in May 2016, will be operating the Cameca SX-50 and the cathodoluminescence microscope setup. In this capacity, he will be aiding researchers in mineral and chemical data collection, and develop new standards material for the instrumentation.
