26 JulThe Harquail School: Who we are and what we do
The Harquail School of Earth Sciences has been educating geoscientists since the 1960's and some of today’s mineral exploration industry leaders have earned their degrees in Geology at this unit at Laurentian University. Explore the pictures below which illustrate the degrees we offer, who we are and what we do.
In recent years, the Harquail School of Earth Sciences has grown substantially with the founding of its Mineral Exploration Research Centre (MERC) in 1997 and the commencement of Canada's largest geoscience research project Metal Earth in 2016.
The now 20 faculty members at the Harquail School of Earth Sciences are proven leaders in their fields, recognized through winning reputable awards (for instance three winners of the prestigious Duncan Ramsay Derry Medal from the Geological Association of Canada) and making Laurentian by far the leading Canadian university in Economic Geology funding. The faculty roster includes a Canada Research Chair in Metallogeny, a Research Chair in Exploration Targeting, and an Industrial Research Chair in Geophysics.
Undergraduate students can register for a B.Sc. in Earth Sciences or B.Sc. in Environmental Geoscience:
