At Laurentian University since January 2018 as Assistant, and currently Associate, Professor of Precambrian Geology, Stéphane's multidisciplinary research involves structural geology, mineralogy, lithogeochemistry, applied geophysics, and three-dimensional modeling to understand tectonic processes associated with Precambrian ore deposits. Field geology is a key component of his research and he is currently participating in large collaborative projects in Canada and West-Africa.

Stéphane is a field structural geologist who extensively uses mineralogical, lithogeochemical, and geophysical tools. Building two/three-dimensions, multi-scales, multi-parameters, GIS and models of Precambrian regions is common in his research. These models help in visualizing interactions between structures and mineralized/altered domains, and support further geological integration and prospectivity analyses.

The main objective of his research is to characterize the favorable settings to develop Precambrian ore deposits, from the crustal to the outcrop scales, and from the Archean to the Proterozoic eons. Stéphane obtained his PhD in 2012 from the University of Toulouse (France) working on the structural evolution of one of the world most productive greenstone belt: the Ashanti Belt in Ghana, West-Africa. He subsequently held a post-doctoral research associate position at Western University for five years, working on the world-class Canadian Malartic gold deposit footprint. He is currently involved in the NSERC-CMIC Exploration Footprints (cmic-footprints.laurentian.ca), the AMIRA West African Exploration Initiative (www.tectonique.net/waxi3), and the Metal Earth project.
