Graduate Programs

The Harquail School of Earth Sciences (HES) provides graduate students with options to enhance their knowledge and areas of expertise.

Students can choose from: 

• M.Sc. Geology – Thesis
• M.Sc. Geology - Applied Mineral Exploration
• M.Sc. Geology – Applied Mineral Exploration (Accelerated)

These options provide graduate students with the opportunity to dedicate themselves to full-time studies and research projects, or to choose a course-based MSc designed to be completed in one year if studying full-time, or two years, studying part-time.

Open Graduate Projects

Modular Courses

Our intensive 10-day Modular Courses may be applied for credit towards an MSc, and are popular with practicing geologists to keep their skills and knowledge up-to-date.

There are three options available for the MSc Geology degree, including:

• a traditional thesis-based MSc option;
• a two year Applied MSc in Mineral Exploration option;
• a one year Applied MSc in Mineral Exploration option.
